As a Facilities and Fleet Manager for dnata catering, you'll be responsible for overseeing and managing the facilities and fleet operations. Your role will involve ensuring the smooth functioning of facilities, including kitchens, storage areas, and administrative spaces, to create a safe and efficient working environment. Additionally, you'll oversee maintaining and optimizing our fleet of vehicles, including trucks and vans, to guarantee timely and reliable delivery of catering services to our clients. Your creative problem-solving skills will come into play as you identify and implement cost-effective maintenance and repair solutions, while adhering to industry regulations and company standards. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you'll develop and execute strategic plans to enhance facility operations, improve productivity, and promote sustainability initiatives. Your friendly and approachable demeanor will contribute to fostering a positive work culture and ensuring the well-being of our employees. The Facilities and Fleet Manager, will play a vital role in maintaining the operational efficiency and effectiveness of dnata catering's facilities and fleet, supporting the overall success of our aviation catering services.

You Will

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 

Construction projects

 

  • Oversee tendering and work with procurement for new projects to ensure continuity of the organization’s operations.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, designers, and others to ensure overall design concept and interior decoration and fittings in property development projects and property refurbishing meet required standards and branding guidelines.
  • Direct all building extensions or additions, including liaising with architects, engineers, councils, DAFF, airport, and other statutory authorities to achieve plans within budgets and time frames.
  • Ensure projects are subjected to satisfactory financial controls and are maintained within budget.
  • Work with suppliers on green energy options, environmental initiatives, and other sustainable practices before, during and after construction of facilities.
  • Provide recommendations for production efficiencies, including automation and/or equipment upgrades before, during and after construction of facilities.
  • Prepare and maintain budgets and schedules on projects within the facilities division.
  • Monitor and control construction progress on new developments.
  • Contribute as a member of the Australian leadership team to the direction of the organization and provide specialist input on global construction projects.

 

Facilities & Maintenance

  • Direct and control the function to ensure that standards of quality, cost, safety and performance are observed and that time schedules are met.
  • Ensure buildings meet health and safety requirements and that facilities comply with relevant legislation.
  • Participate in the development of short and long-term facility plans.
  • Formulate proposals for the rationalization of current properties and equipment, which may include disposal, modification, and refurbishing.
  • Define and review plant maintenance policy to optimize efficiency and quality and ensure regulatory maintenance procedures are documented.
  • Liaise with quality control staff to set quality standards for the efficient functioning of plant and equipment.
  • Direct the regular review of plant and equipment to ensure it meets production and quality requirements and report on other options available to achieve objectives.

 

  • Discuss priorities and resolve technical problems with relevant managers.
  • Confirming that agreed works are completed satisfactorily, following up on rectification of defects.
  • Liaising with unit management to ensure correct supervising and coordinating of work with contractors.
  • Responding to emergencies and urgent matters and implementing corrective actions

 

Fleet

  • Ensure the fleet is compliant with relevant laws and is fit for purpose.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance programs are carried out as per schedule, in line with agreed pricing and monitor post repair performance.
  • Provide advice on the composition to support customer requirements, and the distribution of fleet across the organization.
  • Manage the organizations approach to lifecycle management for all vehicles and provides advice for all new equipment in relation to its maintainability, costs, and effectiveness over its life cycle.
  • Manage the acquisition, replacement, disposal, and logistics of the vehicles.
  • Provide recommendations for lowering vehicle-operating expenses and increase utilization.
  • Update and enforce all vehicle operation maintenance and service check policies and systems.
  • Ensure timely task allocation and approvals fleet maintenance system is monitored.
  • Implement fleet monitoring software to facilitate GPS tracking and collect vehicle usage data.

 

General

  • Lead on property strategy in relation to any growth or acquisition activity undertaken by dnata catering.
  • Participate in research and development projects as required.
  • Coordinate the activities of facilities staff and control staff selection and training.
  • Review proposals from subordinates or finance for new projects or modifications to existing projects.
  • Ensure activities related to the function comply with relevant Acts, legal demands, and ethical standards.
  • Prepare documentation and project progress/status reports for Executive Team
  • Significant contributor to the formulation and maintenance of Business Contingency Plans

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Other duties as assigned by unit Supervisors.

This position has a salary range of $69,000-$105,000/annual with weekly pay, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training

You Have

EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited College, University or the international equivalent, preferred.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum 5-10 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Trade qualifications in building maintenance, desired.
  • Good working knowledge of commercial equipment, such as dishwashers and refrigeration.
  • Demonstrated management skills and planning ability.
  • Energetic leader with an absolute commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Knowledge of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulations, Chain of Responsibility, and exposure to process
  • improvement e.g., Lean methodologies and their implementation.
  • Experience in building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including suppliers and regulators.
  • Competent at strategic planning, and a solid background of project organization.

Intellectual/Social demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits.  Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant attendance and punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time. Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan. Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds. Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.

 

Work environment:

The essential functions of this position are performed indoors. The noise level in the work environment can range from minimal to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold/heat (weather), heights and loud noise (earplugs must be worn while on the Ramp)
