Key Responsibilities as a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor for dnata Catering, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technicians. Reporting to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager, your main objective is to ensure that all food safety and quality standards are met throughout the catering operations. You will work closely with the technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure that proper hygiene and handling practices are followed at all times. Conducting regular inspections and audits, you will identify any potential risks or issues and take appropriate actions to address them. Collaborating with the manager, you will assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive food safety programs, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for training the technicians on protocols and procedures, as well as monitoring their performance to ensure adherence to established guidelines. Your role will also involve addressing any customer concerns related to food safety and quality and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. Overall, your expertise and supervision will contribute to maintaining a safe and quality-driven environment in the aviation catering facility.

You Will

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure plant operations fully adhere to Food Defense plan and plant security is nor compromised in any circumstances.
  • Ensure operations fully comply with applicable regulatory requirements from US FDA, USDA and State and local authorities.
  • Implement and maintain robust food safety, halal and QMS training program.
  • Work with QA Manager in the Development, Implementation and Maintenance of Food Safety (HACCP) programs including employee training, document control and program auditing. Champions the ownership of Food Safety and Food Quality programs to all plant personnel.
  • Host all external audits, work with Ops team, implement and monitor corrective actions to all observations and findings.
  • Lead customer complaint resolution while able to conduct investigation, root cause analysis, develop corrective actions.
  • Conduct internal audit of processes, ensure recipe and specifications adhered, SSOP and SOPs are followed.
  • Manage internal and supplier nonconformance, monitor cooler and freezer temperatures, conduct mock recall.
  • Conduct thermometers and weigh scales calibration; measure and maintain hand soap and all sanitizers concentration.
  • Lead HACCP team meetings, maintain members’ qualification, develop risk assessment, and mitigate plan.
  • Conduct ongoing training sessions, floor briefs educating associates on hygiene, cGMP, FDA recall, foreign matter risk.
  • Maintain CCPs, CPs, SOPs, training, calibration, audits, and all required records.
  • Drive and implement improved processes and conduct special projects as guided by QA Manager
  • Achieve and maintain weekly QA KPI (Technicians, non-conformities, complaints, product quality, etc.) and report to QA Manager
  • Implement all Corrective actions / Preventive actions.
  • Perform Microbiological testing on ingredients and finished product as required by product specifications. Microbiological analysis proficiency testing will be required.
  • Adhere to environment monitoring program including water, ice and food sample testing per customer requirements. Be able to monitor and assess external lab test results and take necessary prompt corrective actions.

This salary range and is influenced by the level of experience. When calculating the base pay, we take into account various factors such as location, qualifications, training, and experience as part of the overall compensation package.

You Have

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in food science or biology preferred. 

  • 2–3 years of experience in the food industry.
  • Knowledge of food production processes; FSMA and GFSI scheme knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
  • Prior experience with HACCP program requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Proven experience supervising and developing a team, with the ability to coach, mentor, and hold staff accountable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead under pressure and maintain composure during audits, inspections, and high-volume operations.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to enforce food safety and quality standards consistently.
  • Experience fostering a culture of compliance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Intellectual/Social demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits.  Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant attendance and punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time. Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan. Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds. Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.

 

Work environment:

The essential functions of this position are performed indoors. The noise level in the work environment can range from minimal to loud.
