We provide opportunities to work across our national network. dnata catering U.S. is looking for a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Coordinator to join our Houston team for the George Bush Intercontinental airport. 

 

As a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Coordinator, you will support the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Supervisor and Manager in ensuring that all food safety and quality standards are met across catering operations. You will play a hands-on role in monitoring processes, conducting inspections, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with employee training. Your efforts will help uphold dnata catering’s commitment to safe, high-quality products for our airline customers.

You Will

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in daily monitoring of food safety and quality procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements (USDA, FDA, and state/local agencies).
  • Conduct routine inspections of production areas, equipment, and storage to ensure adherence to hygiene, sanitation, and handling protocols.
  • Support the Supervisor in preparing for internal and external audits, maintaining required records, and following up on corrective actions.
  • Perform basic product quality checks, including temperature monitoring, label verification, and specification compliance.
  • Assist with calibration of thermometers, scales, and sanitation concentration testing.
  • Collect and prepare product, water, and ice samples for microbiological and environmental testing per program requirements.
  • Support the HACCP team by helping maintain documentation, risk assessments, and meeting records.
  • Participate in and help deliver food safety training sessions and floor briefs for associates on topics such as cGMP, hygiene, and hazard prevention.
  • Document and report non-conformities to the Supervisor for investigation and follow-up.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records for CCPs, CPs, SOPs, audits, and training.
  • Assist in customer complaint investigations by providing data, photos, or relevant findings.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Supervisor or Manager.

This salary range and is influenced by the level of experience. When calculating the base pay, we take into account various factors such as location, qualifications, training, and experience as part of the overall compensation package. 

You Have

EDUCATION: Associate degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1–2 years of experience in the food industry, preferably in food safety, quality control, or production.
  • Basic understanding of HACCP principles and food safety regulations; FSMA and GFSI knowledge a plus.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow precise procedures.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; able to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as business needs require.

 

Intellectual/Social demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits.  Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant attendance and punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time. Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan. Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds. Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.

 

Work environment:

The essential functions of this position are performed indoors. The noise level in the work environment can range from minimal to loud.
