We provide opportunities to work across our national network. dnata catering U.S. is looking for a Diesel Mechanic to join our Inwood (Nassau County), NY team supporting the JFK International Airport.

 

Key Responsibilities: As a Diesel Mechanic at dnata Catering, your role will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our aviation catering company. You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and diagnosing issues with our fleet of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. Your expertise will be essential in keeping our vehicles running efficiently and safely, as well as minimizing downtime. By conducting regular inspections, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting any mechanical problems, you will play a vital role in supporting our catering operations. You Will

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Refrigeration trucks. 
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions using electrical and hydraulic schematics with test equipment. 
  • Repair, recondition, and maintain equipment to manufacture standards. 
  • Prepare and complete work orders.
  • Maintain company equipment; to be kept in clean, orderly, and functioning condition.
  • Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI's) and record keeping.
  • Read and understand Manufacturer provided literature.
  • Communicate with staff effectively regarding equipment conditions, issues, and recommendations.
  • Routinely required to work under inclement weather conditions.
  • Promote a safe work environment, and comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

 

 

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 

The salary for this position is $30.00 hourly with weekly pay, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.

You Have

EDUCATION: Minimum of a High School Diploma with 3 years Diesel Mechanic experience required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years Diesel Mechanic experience required. 
  • CDL License required.
  • Maintain a valid CDL driver’s license and other FAA/Airport required identification/seals or authorizations.
  • ASE Certifications (preferred but not required)
  • Understanding of Automotive air conditioning 
  • Knowledge airport operations is a plus, but not required.
  • Technician must own and maintain required personal tools, toolbox, and test equipment to perform their daily functions.
  • Able to work various shifts, including weekends.

 

Intellectual/Social demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits.  Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant attendance and punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time. Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan. Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity; Works quickly. 

 

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds. Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.

 

Work environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold/heat (weather), heights and loud noise (earplugs must be worn while on the Ramp)
