Key Responsibilities as a Pastry Cook at dnata Catering, you will be responsible for preparing and creating a variety of delicious pastries and desserts for the aviation industry. Your expertise in pastry making and baking techniques will be pivotal in producing high-quality products that meet the company's standards and exceed customer expectations. You will work closely with the culinary team to develop and execute dessert menus, ensuring a diverse range of options that cater to different dietary preferences and cultural requirements. With a keen attention to detail, you will follow recipes accurately, measure ingredients precisely, and maintain consistency in taste, texture, and presentation. Adhering to strict safety and hygiene standards, you will operate in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment, while demonstrating creativity, efficiency, and a passion for delivering exceptional pastry delights. Your role as a Pastry Cook will contribute to dnata Catering's commitment to providing memorable culinary experiences to airline passengers around the world.

You Will

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce high volume, high-quality food from menus.
  • Manage multiple priorities to meet kitchen ready times.
  • Various pastry cooking duties
  • Maintain HACCAP procedures, sanitary regulations, etc.
  • Maintain a safe work environment to help with preventing accidents to self and coworkers.

 

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

The salary range for this position is DOE with weekly pay, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training

You Have

EDUCATION: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years’ experience in a high-volume food service with at least 1-year experience/exposure to pastry cooking.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Capable of lifting mixing bowls with the weight of 30 to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks independently or as part of a work team within the given time in order to meet kitchen ready time.
  • Ability to calculate yields ingredients, convert recipes and measurements in accordance with menu specification.
  • Must ensure the quality preparation of all menu items with a clear understanding of food fundamentals.
  • Scheduled Hours, but not limited to Monday - Friday, with the understanding we have multiple shifts and that we are a twenty-four (24) hour operation for a twenty-four-hour (24) industry.
  • Capacity to work independently and in within a team.
  • Pastry knowledge, preparation, and handling of delicate products. Creating/producing baked goods, breads, confections by following a set recipe/spec.
  • Ensure excellent quality and safety throughout the menu offerings, follows proper handling and right temperatures of all food products.
  • Able to Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times. 

 

Intellectual/Social demands:

 

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits.  Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant attendance and punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time. Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan. Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity; Works quickly. 

 

Physical demands:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds. Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.

 

Work environment: 

 

The essential functions of this position are performed indoors. The noise level in the work environment can range from minimal to loud.
